-Birthstone January

Garnet: the birthstone of January, is mined in a rainbow of colors. From the fiery orange of Mandarin Garnet to the rich green of Tsavorite Garnet and to the most widely recognized color of Pyrope Garnet, it is considered a great gift to symbolize friendship and trust.

-Birthstone May &  Cancer

Emerald: is thought to bring renewed life force, success in new ventures, and good health. The emerald is also said to help the wearer see things clearly and rationally, encourage meditation and reflection, and bring out the natural wanderer, explorer, and scientist.

-Birthstone September

Sapphire: was once thought to guard against evil and poisoning. It was believed that a venomous snake would die if placed in a vessel made of sapphire. Traditionally a favourite stone of priests and kings, the sapphire symbolizes purity and wisdom.

-Birthstone November

Citrine: Citrine is a yellow variety of quartz. The warm color of Citrine is said to be a gift from the sun and it’s believed to be a healing gemstone. Citrine  is associated with success and wealth.

- Secondary Birthstone December

Zircon: the meaning of the zircon birthstone is wisdom, prosperity, and confidence. Zircon symbolizes these traits and is thought to aid in sleep quality and warding off evil spirits.

~ABOUT VASSIAS~
Vassia means gift of God, it comes from the name Agios Vasilis. The story of St Basil is quite similar to the one of St Nicholas (the Western Santa Claus). St Basil (Agios Vasileios) was a kind-hearted and helpful man, who was aiding the poor and needy ones while he was a bishop in Caesarea. We (Nathalie & Jiannis) are fascinated by this story, which is one of the reasons we called our shop Vassias. We look for loving accessories, a gift of love.
